The Dales Care Home in Skipton
Our home is situated in the small country village of Draughton, in the heart of the Yorkshire Dales. Whilst visiting, you can take advantage of the many scenic views that can be easily seen from the windows throughout the home. The historic village of Skipton is also only 5 miles away and well worth a visit.
Here at The Dales, we provide high quality residential and 24-hour nursing care for older people, in addition to support for those living with dementia. Alongside this, we also offer palliative care with dedicated, devoted and experienced staff who are both highly qualified and compassionate. Our staff form strong relationships with residents, family and friends, which is central to the caring and homely atmosphere we offer.
Dementia Care
The Dales also has a dedicated Memory Lane Community that provides a safe, homely environment for people living with dementia, which has been designed following these guidelines ensuring the care we provide supports residents’ freedom of choice. We aim to maintain their life-skills, improving their self-esteem and helping them to maintain and develop their independence while they are living with us.
Staff undertake specialist dementia care training developed by our team of Dementia Care Specialists and academic partners, the Centre for Dementia Research at Leeds Beckett University. Together they ensure our training programmes are informed by the very latest thinking. We ensure that the people we support feel comfortable and safe in their surrounding environment, helping ensure they live life with dementia to the full.
Choosing a care home for a loved one or friend who may be experiencing dementia can be difficult and we have created a guide to showcase how we ‘Enrich the lives of people living with dementia’ in our care home.
As with all Barchester care homes, our high standards are reflected through our hospitality, cooking and activities. There is always something new and different happening, be it live entertainment, themed-events or trips to local places of interest. You can keep up-to-date with our latest activities and events by clicking the link.
Whether you’re considering care options for now or in the future, we are always happy to discuss how we may best suit your needs. We welcome visitors at any time, so feel free to drop in for a cup of tea and chat to experience The Dales for yourself.

Our 'Paying to live in a care home' guide is designed to try and help you understand more about the funding options available and what to consider when choosing a care home.
