Dementia Care

Strachan House has a dedicated Memory Lane Community that provides a safe, homely environment for people living with dementia, which has been designed following these guidelines ensuring the care we provide supports residents’ freedom of choice. We aim to maintain their life-skills, improving their self-esteem and helping them to maintain and develop their independence while they are living with us.

Staff undertake specialist dementia care training developed by our team of Dementia Care Specialists and academic partners, the Centre for Dementia Research at Leeds Beckett University. Together they ensure our training programmes are informed by the very latest thinking. We ensure that the people we support feel comfortable and safe in their surrounding environment, helping ensure they live life with dementia to the full.

Choosing a care home for a loved one or friend who may be experiencing dementia can be difficult and we have created a guide to showcase how we ‘Enrich the lives of people living with dementia’ in our care home.

At Strachan House we pride ourselves on the quality of the care we provide, the standards of hospitality on offer and the wide range of activities and social contacts we promote.

We are always happy to see visitors if you would like to drop in.

Frances Fisher

General Manager

Hi, my name is Frances, and I am General Manager here at Strachan House care home. I joined Barchester initially as an Operations Manager.  I look forward to welcoming you into our home.

Thank you for taking the time to look further into what Strachan House has to offer to you or your loved one. Here is an opportunity to look at some of our staff team in the home, who all play a vital role in day-to-day life.

I have worked within the care home sector since 2010, even working as a student nurse at Strachan House at the very start of my career.  I will bring a wealth of knowledge, skills and experience to the home.

Quality of care that all my residents receive is my passion and I aim to ensure that all the residents in my care receive the best, person centred care.

If you are looking for care for yourself or a loved one, please do get in touch and I look forward to welcoming you to our home, you’re always welcome!
