Wheatlands is a lovely country house, built in 1979 as a Barnardos home, and is set in tranquil landscaped gardens overlooking the Shropshire countryside. Close to the local amenities of Much Wenlock where the ancient Olympics originated, Wheatlands is a 46-bedded care home, offering support for individuals living dementia. who are supported in a perfect environment to live the best life possible.

The home's specialist Memory Lane Community utilises a careful blend of skills and techniques developed by leading experts in the field of dementia care, incorporating person-centred design in its use of colour and cues to help individuals navigate through the home, whilst thoughtful interior design features, such us adapted crockery and tableware assists with reminiscence. Communities are broken up into separate units with a family feel so people can feel safe and comfortable. Care is focused on independence, dignity and choice, with a person-centred approach. Staffing levels reflect the needs of residents, and people living with dementia are offered a range of activities to help preserve life skills, support interactions and retain a sense of purpose and selfhood.
It is a home from home with lovely gardens and a dedicated team of staff who pride themselves on helping residents to retain their independence with dignity and choice. Our personal approach to care is based on plans agreed with residents and their family and friends to ensure likes, dislikes and interests are always recognised. Our activities team provide a focus for the day and every day includes a choice of things to be involved with if you wish, from baking and crafts to school visits and day trips. The home is a hub of the local community and our friends and neighbours are very welcome in the home to share their expertise and interests.

Wheatlands provides person-centred residential care for the elderly frail and those living with dementia in our Memory Lane community. We provide 24 hour residential care and personal care & support to those who require assistance to meet their care, health and social needs. We aim to continually refresh our services to meet residents' needs and focus on improving and developing the quality of care, hospitality and choice we offer. Staff respect the people we support and aim to make their life meaningful and enjoyable.

Welcome to our website, my name is Lea-Ann Littler and I am the General Manager of The Wheatlands.
I have been the General Manager since 2022 and I am very passionate about delivering the best care and life enrichment to the residents of our beautiful home. At The Wheatlands we are very proud of the lifestyle we provide and ensure our residents remain engaged and involved with their local community.
I am very proud to lead such a dedicated team and the passion our team demonstrates ensures the emphasis is always on providing unique individual-focused care based around respect, dignity and choice.
We also look forward to welcoming our resident’s loved ones here, as we feel The Wheatlands has a wonderful family atmosphere to offer with events and clubs that all are encouraged to join. My door is always open for a chat and cuppa so please do come along and experience our “home from home environment”.
