Bere Grove Care Home in Horndean, Portsmouth
Bere Grove Care Home in Horndean, near Portsmouth, is a brand new purpose-built care home that is now open. The home is specifically designed to deliver first class residential and dementia care for older people in a homely, yet secure environment, as well as respite care. Our experienced and dedicated team are ready to deliver exceptional standards of compassionate care, which focuses on the individual needs of each resident.
Care is focused on independence, dignity and choice, with a person-centred approach. Staffing levels reflect the needs of residents, and people living with dementia will be offered a range of activities to help preserve life skills, support interactions and retain a sense of purpose and selfhood. Meals are freshly prepared on-site by trained chefs, who will offer a range of nutritious and tasty food, catering for special dietary requirements when needed.
The home features a wide range of facilities including a beautifully designed orangery lounge which gives an outdoor feel with a lantern style roof and garden access, café with outdoor seating serving tea, coffee and delicious homemade cakes, dining rooms with garden access ideal for summer nights, a cinema to watch the classics and a relaxing spa bathroom located on each floor of the home. As with all Barchester homes, there is a full and varied schedule of virtual and live activities each and every day which residents are welcome to get involved in as much or as little as they wish.
For those living with dementia, there is a dedicated area called Memory Lane which will offer high quality care and thoughtful touches to help make life easier. For example features include a Magic Table – this is an interactive light projector that was originally developed in The Netherlands. It's a specialist piece of technology designed to support residents living with dementia. Additionally, our interior space, colours and bedrooms are all designed to help with difficulties associated with dementia.
We have created a video to showcase our stunning care home, which you can view below:

Our Team
The dedicated and experienced team are passionate about providing quality care to each individual living at the home.

Diana Okeme
Hello, my name is Diana and I am the General Manager here at Bere Grove.
I’ve worked in Adult social care since 2006 whilst completing my Nursing degree and working part-time as a health care assistant, gaining invaluable skills and experience.
I first joined Barchester Healthcare in 2009 after qualifying as a registered nurse in a Specialist Dementia Care Home in Basingstoke. After a year, I was promoted to a Head of care role where I had the opportunity to deputise for the General manager in her absence and gained good leadership and management skills.
Together, with the amazing team here at Bere Grove, we will enable residents to be who they are as individuals, empowering them, promoting their independence whilst providing exceptional, compassionate and quality care with respect and dignity.
Celebrating life and ensuring the team continually provide the highest quality of care.
I look forward to meeting you in person and welcoming you into our stunning home.
