Kirkburn Court Care Home in Peterhead

Kirkburn Court is a purpose-built, single storey home providing care and support and 24-hour nursing care for frail older people. The home is set in its own gardens in Peterhead.

Dementia Care

Kirkburn Court's dedicated Memory Lane Community provides a safe, homely environment for people living with dementia, which has been designed following these guidelines ensuring the care we provide supports residents’ freedom of choice. We aim to maintain their life-skills, improving their self-esteem and helping them to maintain and develop their independence while they are living with us.

Staff undertake specialist dementia care training developed by our team of Dementia Care Specialists and academic partners, the Centre for Dementia Research at Leeds Beckett University. Together they ensure our training programmes are informed by the very latest thinking. We ensure that the people we support feel comfortable and safe in their surrounding environment, helping ensure they live life with dementia to the full.

Choosing a care home for a loved one or friend who may be experiencing dementia can be difficult and we have created a guide to showcase how we ‘Enrich the lives of people living with dementia’ in our care home.

The aim of the home is to ‘provide the highest possible standard of care within the home. Residents’ individuality, dignity, privacy and independence are not compromised because they are elderly, confused or disabled. Our aim is to give our residents the best possible quality of life.’

The best way to decide about a care home is to visit it and make up your mind for yourself. We welcome visitors and will be happy to show you around – or to answer any questions we can help with.

David Garland

Senior General Manager

Hi, my name is David and I am the Senior General Manager here at Kirkburn Court. I have worked in the Care Sector for several decades, in a variety of different positions.

I started as a Care Assistant in 1986 and have been involved in the management of care home services since 2009. I joined Barchester Healthcare, here at Kirkburn Court, in June 2015.

The warm welcome I received from the residents, their families and the staff helped me to settle very well into life here as General Manager. I am very passionate about Kirkburn Court being an important part of our local community and I enjoy supporting our residents, their families and my staff team in all aspects of Kirkburn life.
