We are holding an Open Day on Saturday 8th February. Please come along to meet the team and find out more about life in our home.

The Manor Care Home in Taunton

Located in the countryside of the Quantock Hills in Bishops Hull in Taunton, the Manor offers 24 hour nursing and residential care. Close to Musgrove Park Hospital and just 3 miles from the M5 and centre of Taunton, our home is in a great location that makes keeping in touch with the local community easy, and convenient for visitors to reach us.

We accommodate older individuals with residential care needs, or those who require nursing care, as well as care for those living with dementia, with a dedicated team that is available 24 hours a day. We also understand that some may just require a week or two’s respite to regain confidence from a hospital stay, and know that, for some, a permanent move to a care home can be a daunting thought, so our respite services allow people to sample the Manor life before making a life-changing decision.

At the Manor, we are very much a family, and our approach is driven from each individual who lives here. Our care plans and detailed assessments allow for a tailored approach to each person's needs, including important factors of everyday living, such as religious beliefs, likes and dislikes and all aspects of personal daily living needs.

We have a physio assistant on staff who provides a consistent approach to physio, therapies and rehabilitation for those who need this. The physiotherapist works alongside the nursing staff to reduce falls and maintain independence for the residents.

We believe a sense of belonging and freedom of choice is crucial to everyone who visits and stays with us, from menu choices to activities and events taking place at the home. This is important for well-being, which is why we have a varied activity programme 7 days a week. Our in-house activities team works with our residents in group sessions, as well as in one-to-one time.

The best way for you to get a feel for the home is to pop in and see for yourself, where we can show you around and answer any questions that you may have. We know that food and the environment is very important, so families and individuals are also very welcome to come by for a coffee and home-made piece of cake in the bistro, or join us for a meal prior to making a decision.

Our Team

The dedicated and experienced team are passionate about providing quality care to each individual living at the home.

Helen Smith

Senior General Manager

Hello, my name is Helen, and I am the General Manager here at The Manor. Welcome to our website!

I have vast experience in Home management and I really enjoy managing a luxury home. I  feel that it is extremely important to offer a premium service so our residents have a wonderful experience.

Managing a care home is very rewarding and really gives you the opportunity to be part of a big extended family. Quality of care and life enrichment are driving factors to the management and leadership as a home manager. I believe in developing staff and services to support a fulfilling life and career.

I have worked as a nurse for 30 years and been lucky enough to have worked in Australia. I have emergency care experience and care manager experience from the last 15 years in both Somerset and Hampshire.

I recently relocated from Hampshire. I am a keen gardener, love to travel and spending time with my two daughters.

My passion is ensuring that our residents live their life to the fullest and I look forward to welcoming you to our home to see this first-hand.
