West Abbey Care Home in Yeovil
Here at West Abbey in Yeovil, we provide high quality 24-hour nursing and residential care for older people, including those with dementia in our innovative Memory Lane Community. Alongside this, we also have a facility for younger people who are living with physical disabilities.
Dementia Care
'Memory Lane' utilises a careful blend of skills and techniques developed by leading experts in the field of dementia care, incorporating person-centred design in its use of colour and cues to help individuals navigate through the home, whilst thoughtful interior design features, such us adapted crockery and tableware assists with reminiscence. Communities are broken up into separate units with a family feel so people can feel safe and comfortable. Care is focused on independence, dignity and choice, with a person-centred approach. Staffing levels reflect the needs of residents, and people living with dementia are offered a range of activities to help preserve life skills, support interactions and retain a sense of purpose and selfhood.
All of our luxurious rooms are wheelchair accessible and have en-suite facilities. Alongside this, residents have access to our onsite hairdresser, physiotherapy treatment and a variety of entertainment and activities organised by our activities team, such as gardening, baking and regular outings.
West Abbey partnered with Life Circles in 2012, which was was a two-year collaborative project aimed at supporting the life-long creativity of older people living in care settings, through innovative, imaginative and inspiring community dance practice.
We are always happy to discuss how we can meet your care needs, so why not give us a call and arrange a visit to experience West Abbey for yourself?
