Oaklands Care Home in Cambridge
Oaklands is a new addition to our Hilton Park Care Centre community. Opened in October 2008 Oaklands is a purpose-built facility for people living with dementia and young people with physical challenges. The home is set in beautiful ground on the outskirts of Bottisham Village, where we are an integral part of a wider community.
Dementia Care
The home's specialist Memory Lane Community utilises a careful blend of skills and techniques developed by leading experts in the field of dementia care, incorporating person-centred design in its use of colour and cues to help individuals navigate through the home, whilst thoughtful interior design features, such us adapted crockery and tableware assists with reminiscence. Communities are broken up into separate units with a family feel so people can feel safe and comfortable. Care is focused on independence, dignity and choice, with a person-centred approach. Staffing levels reflect the needs of residents, and people living with dementia are offered a range of activities to help preserve life skills, support interactions and retain a sense of purpose and selfhood.
Oaklands Care Home has well-maintained and secure internal gardens so that people can enjoy the outdoors in safety. The home has hairdressing facilities, a café -style reception area, restaurant-style dining and lovely, relaxing communal areas.
Oaklands offers a real community feel. We have three units within the home. Two are dedicated Memory Lane communitues and the remaining unit is for younger people with disabilities. We have given all units street names to create a village feel: each bedroom door even has its own letter box and door knocker.
Our experienced and highly qualified team delivers high quality care, giving people quality support that is in a league of its own, ensuring individuals remain in control of their lives. Working within the philosophy of person-centred care, the care team supports each individual in making their own decisions and choices regarding daily life and social activity.
We welcome visitors and enquiries, so please feel free to drop in to see us or to call.

Oana Lupu
Welcome to Oaklands Care Home website, my name is Oana Lupu and I am the General Manager. I hope you find everything you're looking for!
I have been a General Registered Nurse for over 10 years and joined Barchester Healthcare as a unit manager at Hilton Park Care Home in 2015. Since joining Barchester, I have worked my way up to home clinical lead, Deputy Manager and in May 2022 I was offered and accepted the position of Acting General Manager for Oaklands Care Home.
During my time with Barchester, I have always worked closely with Oaklands Care Home and was delighted to be given the opportunity to work alongside a group of dedicated staff who with their wealth of knowledge and commitment give Oaklands the unique warm family atmosphere they are so well known for.
I am passionate about working with the elderly and those living with dementia and am focused on providing the best possible care for them. I strongly believe that there is always something we can do to improve the quality of life for our residents.
