St Thomas Care Home in Basingstoke

St Thomas was converted from a beautiful Victorian home and is set within tranquil landscaped gardens. It is also ideally situated within walking distance of Basingstoke, which offers a good selection of shops, restaurants, leisure activities and transport links.

Dementia Care

St Thomas has a dedicated Memory Lane Community that provides a safe, homely environment for people living with dementia, which has been designed following these guidelines ensuring the care we provide supports residents’ freedom of choice. We aim to maintain their life-skills, improving their self-esteem and helping them to maintain and develop their independence while they are living with us.

Staff undertake specialist dementia care training developed by our team of Dementia Care Specialists and academic partners, the Centre for Dementia Research at Leeds Beckett University. Together they ensure our training programmes are informed by the very latest thinking. We ensure that the people we support feel comfortable and safe in their surrounding environment, helping ensure they live life with dementia to the full.

Choosing a care home for a loved one or friend who may be experiencing dementia can be difficult and we have created a guide to showcase how we ‘Enrich the lives of people living with dementia’ in our care home.

We aim to improve the quality of life for every resident living in our home. Our commitment to the individuals we support can be seen across the board, not only in our care, but in our cooking, hospitality and activities. Our skilled chefs are passionate about providing nutritious and delicious meals, whilst our full-time activities coordinators organise an extensive activities programme, with something to every residents' interests and needs.

We think you’ll find us ideally suited to meet your needs, so why not arrange a visit and experience our home for yourself?

Types of care

We provide care for people living with dementia, and the first step to providing support is by getting to know who they are. Dementia is something they live with but is not what defines them as a person; we aim to encourage and empower those we support and help them maintain as much independence as possible through a range of meaningful care and lifestyle activities.

Our Team

The dedicated and experienced team are passionate about providing quality care to each individual living at the home.

Jenny Rafemoyo

General Manager

Hello, my name is Jenny, and I am the General Manager at St Thomas’.

I joined the St Thomas team in September 2024 and have experience managing both nursing and residential care homes. My passion for caring for people living with dementia began around eight years ago. At St Thomas, my aim is to create a safe and loving environment for those living with dementia while promoting choice and encouraging independence.

In 2020, I completed a Diploma in Management in Health and Social Care, and in 2023, I obtained a Bachelor’s Degree in Integrated Care. I am currently studying for a Level 7 qualification in Senior Leadership.

I take pride in fostering a positive working culture and aim to inspire the St Thomas team to reach their full potential within Barchester through education, practical experience, and mentoring. At St Thomas, we have a highly skilled team of care, nursing, and ancillary staff.

As General Manager, I strive to empower the team to provide high-quality, person-centered care while ensuring our residents’ lives are fulfilled, regardless of physical limitations.

St Thomas has a fantastic activity team that ensures every day is different in our home, offering an extensive array of events and life enrichment opportunities. Our activities team is always looking for new and innovative ways to promote independence and enjoyment.

At St Thomas, we understand that having a loved one in a care home can be a challenging time. Therefore, we welcome families and friends into the home like family, and our staff are always on hand to support relatives through what we know can be a confusing experience.
